about me
Hello,
Thank you for visiting my blog. This is a little note about myself and why I choose to write this blog.
I was born and brought up in India by the most wonderful parents a child can hope for. My parents exercised cautious conservatism in bringing me up, thus instilling in me the values passed on by our predecessors, yet not letting our family fall in to the crevasse of blind beliefs and traditions; traditions which are meant to be adapted over time but is not in many cases. I also grew up developing a deep sense of interest and curiosity about Hinduism and the mythology that envelops it. Parables from the mythology fascinated me as a child and still continue to fascinate me in the same way even as an adult. I never get bored of reading or listening to the stories which I know so well by now.
Parables, taught me many aspects of life and value system which has a paramount presence in my life today and for which I feel grateful to all those wise people before me who could translate the myriad aspects of life in to simple tales or complex epics and convey the essence of their philosophy to others, yet not imposing them on to the listener.
I find that these parables convey quite clearly what they were intended for yet give me a choice thus making me wiser every time I choose to exercise them. As I benefited from them vastly, I believe it would be useful to many others as well. The age old way of teaching and learning has been through an oral recitation and listening process in India and very little has been documented and even less, preserved today.
With Internet today, knowledge can be gained at a much greater pace then ever in the past by collaborative research and sharing of experience. I intend to write the parables that I heard and read, in this blog, serving to the curious reader and for a researcher looking for information. By no means this information is qualified for its correctness nor are they an output of rigorous academic research. It is more representative as a written version of a raconteur’s evening tales to young children sitting by his side listening to his stories from one of the world’s oldest and still surviving way of life.
I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoy writing it.
Peace,
Aditya.
